Me too. There needs to be a thrilling 21-19 end to the fifth set (or third if women are playing) for me to tune in, or if my favourite player won.

Experience could well be the key factor, as could temper. Roddick is known for losing his temper when he's losing a match, it happened in Wimbledon last year against Rusedski I believe, but he may have been abl;e to calm that temper since then, I wouldn't know as I haven't followed his progress.
