I'm sure you've seen this before, but I thought it was cool. It starts in 98 and ends in November 2002.

# 83 Singles Artist of the Year


The single "...Baby One More Time" was released and hit the Top 40.


"...Baby One More Time" certified was gold and hit the Top 10.

# 3 Singles Artist of the Year (# 1 Female Artist of the Year)


Britney's solo debut, Baby One More Time, was released and debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart where it spent 6 weeks.
The single "...Baby One More Time" was certified platinum and went #1 for 3 weeks (and topped the Billboard Hot 100 for 2 weeks and the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Sales chart for 4 weeks).


Baby One More Time was certified gold, platinum, and 2x platinum by the end of the month.
"...Baby One More Time" spent 3 weeks at #1.
Britney started touring outside the US but was sidelined from a TV appearance when she twisted a knee while rehearsing (which resulted in minor surgery a month of recovery).

Britney hit the Top 40 with "Oops!... I Did It Again." The single also broke a record for 'radio station adds' in its first week with 155.
Britney won a Kids' Choice Award for Favorite Female Singer.


Oops... I Did It Again was released. The LP contains the hit title track and a cover of the Rolling Stones' "(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction." She told WallOfSound: "I have no clue how it's going to sound. I like the song and I think it would be a really cool combination..."
"Oops!... I Did It Again" hit the Top 10 in the U.S. and topped the charts in the U.K. and Canada.
By the end of the month, "Oops!... I Did It Again" hit #1 on The ARC Weekly Top 40 and topped MuchMusic's Video Chart.
Britney hit the book stores with a book written with her mom called Britney Spears; Heart To Heart.
At the World Music Awards, Britney walked away with Best Selling Female Artist.

A tabloid paper in England reported that Britney was to marry 'N Sync's Justin Timberlake. Her publicist denied the report a few days later.
Britney had to cancel a Colorado concert at Red Rocks Amphitheater set for the end of the month due to the lack of space for her stage production.
In Germany's InStyle magazine, Britney addressed her 'sexy image': "I only wear these crop tops because other clothes would make me sweat when I dance. I never wanted this sexy image."

Britney began readying the public for her next LP release and continued to attempt to increase her image as a woman: ''I want to do things that people have never seen before. 'I don't want to be considered a role model...'I like to celebrate when something comes up 'but I do everything with balance. One drink here or one drink there is fine. Britney came under some controversy when People For The Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) was not happy with Britney's plans to perform at the ceremony with 4 cheetahs on stage.
Britney could be heard on the All-Star Tribute benefit single "What's Going On" (with proceeds going to AIDS and 9/11 charities).
Britney appeared on the cover of Rolling Stone.

Britney began touring North America, starting in Miami (after a delayed beginning due to the flu). Britney canceled a promotional tour of Europe and South America due to safety concerns related to recent terrorist actions.
Britney released her 3rd LP, Britney.
Britney topped the Billboard 200 Albums chart for a week becoming her 3rd LP to debut at #1. The LP sold over 740,000 copies in its 1st week in the US. The LP also topped the Billboard Internet Album Sales chart for a week.
Britney hit the Top 10 with "I'm A Slave 4 U."
Britney gave a "live" concert performance from Las Vegas on HBO - Britney Spears Live From The MGM Grand Las Vegas. TV Guide said of the special: "Spears' use of recorded tracks was even more obvious, giving her Nov. 18 HBO special the occasional look of a Japanese monster movie."
"I'm A Slave 4 U" topped the MTV Video Countdown for a week.
Britney was nominated for a MTV Europe Music Award for Best Pop Act.

Britney started a partnership with a New York restaurant, 'Nyla'. She terminated the partnership 8 months later.


Britney hit the Top 40 with "Overprotected."


Britney resumed touring with the 'Dream Within A Dream' tour.


Britney's tour hit a bump when a Texas show had to be cancelled after a power outage.
Britney was named the 'world's most powerful celebrity' by Forbes magazine.


Britney had a cameo appearance in in Austin Powers: Goldmember and contributed a remixed track to the film Austin Powers: Goldmember - "Boys" (Co-ed Remix).
Britney stirred controversy in Mexico - first giving the middle finger to photographers as she arrived to the country, and then abruptly leaving a concert performance after 4 songs during her final show in Mexico. The departure was later blamed on the weather.


Britney hit the Top 40 with "Boys."
It was announced that Britney would be taking a break from music and performing for 6 months - her publicist denied it was related to a broken heart or becomming emotionally exhausted as some newspapers claimed.
Britney won a Teen Choice Award for Choice Female Artist.
Britney's video for "I'm A Slave 4 U" was nominated for 3 MTV Video Music Awards including Best Female Video, Best Dance Video, and Best Choreography (Wade J. Robson).
