Quick Tongue Levi to continue rehabilitation at home

Nine months after collapsing at the Teddy stadium, Maccabi Tel-Aviv FC midfield player Meni Levi will be released from the Loewenstin Hospital rehabilitation centre at the weekend.

Levi, who collapsed during Maccabi's league match against Beitar Jerusalem on 26 January and was rushed to hospital in a critical condition, has recently come off his life-support machine.

The 22-year-old is still partially unconscious but his family believe that being in his home surroundings can improve his condition. His father Mordechai, who has been a constant presence at his son's bedside, said: "We believe that in his own bedroom Meni will be able to recognise the people around him - a fact which will help improve his condition".

Maccabi general manager Moshe Agayev revealed yesterday that the club will assign medical staff to assist Levi's recovery. "We sent the team's physio to Loewenstin so he can learn what needs to be done to improve Meni's recovery," he said. No further information about Levi's condition has been released at the request of his family.
