It's not great fun, but I know a friend who did what you said. Deleted all the programs that normally ran in the background.
It turned out one of them was a program which was useless to him cause he couldn't use it for anything and it took up free memory every time he used his computer. So he deleted it.
The next day his computer didn't start anymore, it turned out to be a program which is useless when your computer is running, but your pc needs the program to be able to start windows, to be able to run when starting up. So yeah, he had to go to a store with it and it gave him loads of problems ...
So just one little warning, be careful when you delete a program you don't know the use of. I don't take any risks and I always close them when I start up my pc
