Cool

I believe that there is something else out there besides us in the universe, but the chances of us ever meeting them are about 1 in a billion.

*Warning: It gets serious now*

According to the drake equation there are roughly 10 technologically advanced civilisations somewhere out there in our galaxy that we could communicate with. Some of the factors involved in this equation are known facts (the rate at which solar-type stars form in the galaxy) and some are purely hypothetical guesses (the lifetime of a technologically advanced civilisation) so the actual answer could be anywhere between 1 and 100000.

The actual chance of us meeting any of the civilisations are so small due to the fact that space is large. It would take us 100's of years just to reach the nearset star. So whoever is out there, whether they are friendly or not, we are safe from them.
