58 years ago today... | | 58 years ago today in the early morning hours young british and american men start one of the biggest days and the most dangerous of their lives. Some paratrooped onto land and at dawn another fleet of young men began the sea invasion. many died on this day but By the end of the day, they had achieved a tenuous toehold that would be greatly expanded over the next weeks. On this day June 6, 1944 this D-DAY was the beginning of the end for Hitler and his "Fortess Europe" . My great unlce was there at the invasion of Normandy he was lucky enough to survive it. he died 3 years ago.
