A promotional compact disc, or "Promo CD, PR CD, etc" is given strictly to radio stations to be considered for airplay. Almost 100% of the time, it falls into the wrong hands, and gets sold on eBay and other auction websites. Sometimes a radio station will hold contests or will appear outside of a concert and distribute them as prizes, They sometimes consist of 1-5 tracks, normally including a Call-Out Research Hook, which is a 10-15 second clip of the song for radios to run in their advertisements. Sometimes the CD includes a special remix, or "Radio Edit" of the song, as well as an instrumental or A cappella version. |
