Billionaire Gives Homeless Woman Mansion | | That's right a billionaire gave a homeless family his mansion, and in return all she must do is pay the utility bills. Dorie-Ann Kahale and her five daughters were moved from a homeless shelter to a Mansion owned by Japanese real estate mogul (Genshiro Kawamoto). Genshiro is opening up eight multimillion-dollar mansions to homeless or low-income Native Hawaiian families in an effort to help the struggling people regain control of their lives.
He thinks that opening his homes to these people is a better way to help them than to just hand them money. He thinks that doing this will help them get back on their feet and has said they are free to live in his home for up to 10 years. The families will live rent free and must only pay the utility bills, in order to retain the million dollar homes. Kahale who had tears running down her face in an interview as she was moved into her new home had this to say "I'm shocked, I'm overwhelmed". Even Kawamoto's eyes welled up a bit at the site of the woman's gratitude.
The home has a huge circular driveway, stone staircase, deep bathtub and plenty of space for the family of five. The Kahale's became homeless 2 years ago when the apartment they were living in almost doubled in rent going from 800 dollars a month to 1,200. This was out of the range of Dorie's income and they moved in with family, and then later moved to a shelter.
Kawamoto also has handed over two of his other homes in Hawaii to two other low-income families. He plans on letting eight families live under the same stipulations at his other mansions in the area. All the families will live rent free and only be required to pay the utility bills. |
