| Hey guys! What an exciting show it was on Thursday night, should make for a great segway heading into Sunday's PPV, Hard Justice. Enjoy! OFFICIAL TNA “iMPACT!” RESULTS
Thursday, August 10th, 2006 – Orlando, FL
By: Marcus Cygy
“iMPACT!” on Spike TV opened this evening with Eric Young camping with a tent outside of Cornette’s office in anticipation for his promised meeting this week. He would unfortunately have to wait.
Rhino brought us live in the ring with the reminder of his match this Sunday when he takes on “The Alpha Male” Monty Brown and the undefeated “Samoan Submission Machine” Samoa Joe in a falls count anywhere match. What that means is Rhino can take the match right into the stands holding the fans and win the match. Rhino took that literally tonight when he warmed the fans up by entering their grounds and taunted Monty Brown and Samoa Joe.
Monty Brown suddenly emerged from out of nowhere and took “The War Machine” Rhino down to his feet. There will be no chokes, nor any Gores proclaimed Monty Brown. However, Samoa Joe thought otherwise and entered the ring but his entrance was a tad different. Less talk, more action! They brawled with the reappearance of Rhino as security had to restore order in breaking up the fight.
Our opening contest tonight saw Kevin Nash, Alex Shelley, and Johnny Devine of The Paparazzi taking on Chris Sabin, Sonjay Dutt, and Jay Lethal. Shelley and Dutt started out the bout with Sonjay beginning the offense upon later tagging Sabin in. Shelley immediately tagged Nash in, but once he was poked in the eye he bailed with the tag on Devine – possibly a sign that Nash will have his boys on hand this Sunday against Sabin when needed.
Once Devine was able to soften up Jay Lethal in the ring, Kevin demanded a tag and worked on the already tired and beaten Lethal. So confident with his work in the ring, he even gave a few smacks over at Sabin and Dutt in their corners. However, the team of Chris Sabin, Sonjay Dutt, and Jay Lethal would come back with the win after a Cradle Shock was delivered on Devine. Dutt took Shelley out of the equation, while Nash watched on from the outside. It’s almost as if Kevin Nash wants things handed to him, rather than working alone to achieve any feat. He’ll be fighting Chris Sabin at Hard Justice, with the winner getting a shot at the X-Division Title.
After the match, management representative Larry Zbyszko broke the news that Jim Cornette has added Jay Lethal to the X-Division Championship bout this Sunday in what now becomes a three-way match. Champion, Senshi defends against Petey Williams and Jay Lethal! Eric on the other hand was still waiting for his meeting, but Eric would be shafted in hearing the meeting was postponed for a later time tonight.
One half of the NWA World Tag Team Champions, Christopher Daniels took on one half of their opponents this Sunday, Homicide of LAX. The Fallen Angel would literally win the bout with his Koji Clutch submission, but due to the distraction of Konnan, the referee never witnessed the tapping out by Homicide. Hernandez entered the six-sided ring and took out Daniels with the Cracker Jack, ultimately giving Homicide the win.
After the match, AJ Styles cleaned house with stiff chair shots in giving a message that this Sunday on Pay-Per-View, it’s all business in this violent fight originally brought on by LAX. It’s going to be for the NWA World Tag Team Titles, but will the numbers get in the way?
After showing up various times throughout the night with a sign trying to entice Abyss into having their Hard Justice bout tonight, Brother Runt would finally show up after Shark Boy fell victim to the Black Hole Slam. James Mitchell took the microphone and told Runt that he was a real funny little cockroach for playing these games all night. By this time Brother Runt was atop of the TNA stage and as Abyss inched closer and closer, Runt made the hefty decision of leaping off and taking Abyss down in suicidal fashion. Raven was looking on in much respect to this diabolical outbreak. Abyss would later have his way with Brother Runt, but if this is any indication to what we’re going to see at Hard Justice then we’re going down a roller coaster come Sunday!
Backstage, the meeting between Eric Young and Jim Cornette finally occurred. Cut the presents and gifts aside from Eric, because Cornette didn’t have time for any of it. Instead, Cornette was giving Eric the opportunity to prove himself in TNA, as he will face Johnny Devine this Sunday. If Eric can win the bout, wrestle a great match, and ultimately bring in great ratings then his spot in TNA is secured. If not, then is future is debatable.
Jim Cornette was at the commentary booth for our main event this week featuring Christian Cage versus Scott Steiner. Cornette told the audience that this match will show which man wants to help their partner more because if they can take out their opponent tonight then he won’t be there in the corner of his respective partner come Sunday. Sting has Christian Cage, while NWA World Champion, Jeff Jarrett has Scott Steiner.
The match itself was really a match of strengths and will power. Steiner would showcase his pushup routine early on in mocking Cage. Christian showed no will of giving up though; he would not quit in making his intensions clear. He wants Steiner out so he can prevent Jarrett in weaseling himself out of the match against Sting on Sunday. That’s exactly Jeff Jarrett’s plan though and that’s what prompted him to end this match by beating on Christian and later putting him in the Scorpion Death Lock – a message sent to Sting. However, the message was reversed once the lights went out and back on. Jarrett was now in the Scorpion Death Lock by Sting and you could see pain written all of Jarrett’s face as he went forth on tapping out continuously. Later, Christian Cage awarded Sting the NWA Championship Title as a reminder of what he’s fighting for, a title he once won back on July 7, 1990 – will August 13, 2006 be his second reign? Find out Sunday live and exclusively on Pay-Per-View when TNA Wrestling presents “Hard Justice”! Quick Match Results:
• Chris Sabin, Sonjay Dutt, & Jay Lethal defeated The Paparazzi (Kevin Nash, Alex Shelley, & Johnny Devine).
• Homicide defeated Christopher Daniels.
• Abyss defeated Shark Boy.
• Christian Cage wrestled Scott Steiner, to a no-contest. |
