Anyone who 'loses respect' for someone because they drink/ do drugs...did you ever think that a LOT of people who do that stuff are doing so because they have such enormous pain and emotional turmoil in their life? They really are trying to self medicate themselves to solve their problems. Of course it only works temporarily....
But to turn your back on a friend because they happen to be making the wrong decisions, god I hope you're NEVER my friend, because you're just a fucking fair weather friend if thats what you do. Sorry, but thats true. Some of my friends have been on HARD CORE drugs, I mean their veins collapsing because they shot so much heroin into them. Did I turn my back ? No. did I agree with what they were doing? No. But I'm not going to be all Ms. Holier than THou because I didn't agree with it. I did what proper friends did and helped them through it. You never know if you're going to be in that postion one day, and would you want someone turning their back on you?
And if you want to look at it religiously, Christ never would have turned his back or lost respect for someone because of it. He would have held their hand and tried to be there for them. |
