You're choosing to be closed-minded because you don't seem to educate yourself on a subject before making a judgment call. Saying that people need help because "drinking and doing drugs makes them happy" is, accompanied with generalizing the shit out of people, a blatantly ignorant statement.

Not everyone who smokes pot and drinks beer does it every week. So I guess you lost respect for me because I enjoy a drink of alcohol too? But you can't tell me why it is bad, really. You have no proof that the occasional drink changed me in evil ways, or damaged me in any way. I however, can give you proof that it doesn't. So what is your statement that "they can do better" based on? It is based on nothing but air. What they can do better in your example is that they would stop doing it every week. But there is no significant damage to it when it's done on occasion. And since you were generalizing, you have basically been saying that you have no respect for my friends, you have no respect for me, you have no respect for, as Swany says, about 90% of the western civilization. Surely that's not the intention here, is it?

I do enjoy a drink of whiskey yes. So even though it doesn't appear from your words, I will assume you mean people who don't know any other way of having fun then. Or people who take it too far. Cause you know, between you and me, I may enjoy some alcoholic beverages, but I'm not the one who needs help.

I myself drink probably a couple times a week.it's a social thing. My friends and I meet at a local pub to talk and hang out and play darts. Do I get drop down drunk? No. I have maybe 2 drinks, and I space them out. Bottom line, I have to get up for work the next morning, so I'm not going to drink so much that I get sick or have a hangover. Part of growing up.

Heck everyone around me is Catholic so the church we got to has a BAR in the church. Drinking is a BIG part of their religion. Drinking wine is like drinking the blood of Christ. People that grow up accustomed to alcohol are SO much less likely to become alcoholics than those that are raised thinking alcohol is BAD and EVIL.

As for smoking whatever...I don't like it, but whoever wants to do it can, I dont' care. Don't like the smell/taste/effects.... But I learned that myself. I didn't condemn it as evil. Whoever doesn't want to smoke , I respect them in their choice. Whoever does want to smoke, can do so. As long as they aren't blowing it in my face, I don't give a crap. Pot can become a problem though. I've seen people just get obsessed with it. I don't know why.

You do know you have a problem when you can't have fun without some sort of substance. I got worried that I had to have alcohol to have fun, so I cut WAY down. Right now I don't drink that much, just because it's expensive and I'm saving money.
Agreed. People get obsessed with pot because well, they use it as a stress reliever, heh. And it seems to work a lot better than normal cigs. The addiction is similar to nicotine, as well. These are the ones who need help, such as learning how to deal with stress.
