IMO its kind of silly to lose respect for people just because they drink or get high every so often. I lose respect for people when they treat other people like crap, when they steal, when they abuse animals. I'm not going to lose respect for people just because they enjoy a beer every once in a while....

I myself drink probably a couple times a week.it's a social thing. My friends and I meet at a local pub to talk and hang out and play darts. Do I get drop down drunk? No. I have maybe 2 drinks, and I space them out. Bottom line, I have to get up for work the next morning, so I'm not going to drink so much that I get sick or have a hangover. Part of growing up.

Heck everyone around me is Catholic so the church we got to has a BAR in the church. Drinking is a BIG part of their religion. Drinking wine is like drinking the blood of Christ. People that grow up accustomed to alcohol are SO much less likely to become alcoholics than those that are raised thinking alcohol is BAD and EVIL.

As for smoking whatever...I don't like it, but whoever wants to do it can, I dont' care. Don't like the smell/taste/effects.... But I learned that myself. I didn't condemn it as evil. Whoever doesn't want to smoke , I respect them in their choice. Whoever does want to smoke, can do so. As long as they aren't blowing it in my face, I don't give a crap. Pot can become a problem though. I've seen people just get obsessed with it. I don't know why.

You do know you have a problem when you can't have fun without some sort of substance. I got worried that I had to have alcohol to have fun, so I cut WAY down. Right now I don't drink that much, just because it's expensive and I'm saving money.
