No, I do not believe it is our duty to have children. But each person should figure that out for themselves.

If you're looking for reasoning as to why I believe so, it goes as follows:

1. We're people, not ants.
2. The standard is one baby at a time, not eight or nine of them.
3. The humans have about the longest lifespan per individual on earth.


These are signs that indicate that you probably won't go to hell if you don't choose to have kids. Some anti-abortion people may object because turning a YES KID into a NO KID equals aborting the decision to create a life, which is bad. (OH NOES!)

Bottom line is this. Each person should do what they desire to do. If you desire to have children, then you are bound to make ways to fulfill that desire. It's that simple, really.
