Yeah, but they don't have to show almost everything to show that "freedom", know what I mean? That's good that they feel some sort of freedom because they can do what they want and dress how they want, but how is showing alot of skin exactly liberating yourself? I mean, when you show too much skin, people are going to focus on your goodies and not you. Isn't that demeaning in a way? I definetley would hate it if people came up to me just because of my body. I don't want to be known for what I have, but I'd rather want to be known for the kind of person I am.

But I guess I read this thread a different way...the human body is a beautiful thing and when it can be done tastefully and without making the person look desparate, I think nakedness is a wonderful thing. Like nude beaches...so want to go to one. I don't think I'd take everything off, just the top...I realize they're not for everyone and that's fine, not everyone has to like them.
As for women not wanting to be seen as a piece of meat to men. Yeah, but you're always going to have that argument. There will always be some women out there who find it offensive no matter what. But I don't think that means the others, who don't find it offensive, should restrain themselves just because some disagree with it. |
I'm not saying women should just straight out refrain from it because not everyone agrees with it, I think i'm looking at the big picture. With your example, if you go to a nude beach (i've never been to one), wouldn't people just be staring you up and down and be getting nasty thoughts by looking at your body? I mean, isn't the point of a beach to have fun in the water and enjoy yourself. You can still do that without being nude. When it comes to being nude, most people will just look at your body and lust after that. You can't say that that's not true. The human body is a very beautiful thing and I, personally, don't think it's something that should be shown to everyone. You don't have to show you're beautiful by exposing yourself, you can do that in other ways: through yoru actions. When it comes to showing skin, even when you're trying to convey a certain message, people will look past that because their desires will be too strong when they look at a "beautiful" body. That's atleast what I think. You can't deny the fact that when a person sees someone else naked, certain desires will arise in their minds. It happens to everyone that's human. But how is beinig naked a good way to prove a point or how is being naked showing you being free when ultimately all people will do is get bad thoughts? Look at that Christina shoot, she bares it all. Any guy who looks at that won't care if she's trying to say something, all they'll care about is if they can get a good look at her "stuff". Is that liberating?
If you compare that to a woman who covers herself, aren't people more prone to like her more because of her intellect? Isn't that more pleasing than a person liking you because of your body?
