Most of these events are pop-culture related, but that's my life.
October 11, 1996 - My family went on a 5-day vacation to Disneyland. It's my last solid memory of us as a happy family in it's entirety.
July 10, 1996 - Saw Alannah Myles for the first time in concert at a free show on the Coca-Cola stage @ the Calgary Stampede. Alannah Myles is my favourite all-time artist and though she toured through Calgary on average twice a year, this was the first show in 7 years that didn't require me to be 18 years old to see her.
April 11, 1997 - Spice Girls perform 'Wannabe' and 'Say You'll Be There' on Saturday Night Live. ABC airs Brit Awards, Spice Girls performed 'Who Do You Think You Are?'. Spice Girls officially became my favourite group.
June 14, 1997 - Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman series finale airs after being cancelled at the last minute.
November 8, 1997 - Met Shania Twain in person at an autograph signing four days after she released
Come On Over. (Also 4 days after Spice Girls released their second album).
December 6, 1997 - Spice Girls Live In Istanbul airs on Muchmusic. I wouldn't normally include this kind of an event here, but I couldn't have been more excited if I was actually at the show. I litterally was sick with excitement.
June 8, 1998 - My first "real" concert experience that was not a free show at a fair. Shania Twain performed at the Saddledome.
January 29, 1999 - "Britney Day" at MuchMusic. Britney performed "Sometimes" on MuchMusic, defeated The Offspring on Combat Zone, was #1 for the sixth consecutive week on the MuchMusic Countdown
and performed "Baby One More Time" on Electric Circus. My already-there fanship for Britney
skyrocketed that day. Two days later, I bought her album from the local grocery store. ("Britney Day" shaped the next seven years of my life.)
July 23, 1999 - My first (and only) Britney Spears concert.
October 6, 2000 - Got promoted to Manager at my job. Sure was an ego boost at the age of 15.
December 16, 2000 - Met Spice Girl Melanie C at an autograph signing. My first in-person Spice Girl experience.
March 29, 2001 - Saw Melanie C live in concert. My first Spice Girl concert. (Hopefully not my last!)
June 26, 2002 - Graduation. 13 years of school finally comes to an end.
July 12, 2002 - My second Alannah Myles concert. This time she shared the stage with Sass Jordan at the Coke Stage. I ended up missing the Grandstand show which I paid for to see this show, but was not disappointed.
July 16, 2005 - My first Good Charlotte concert, with Social Code. (See previous post for details.)
July 17, 2005 - My second Good Charlotte concert with Social Code. I must have broken at least five laws to see this show, but I managed to see it and no one got hurt or even came close! Also it was my first concert outside of Calgary.
October 9, 2005 - My third Alannah Myles concert. I was lucky enough to get to meet her where she recognized me as the "one who knows all the words to her songs" and she wished me a happy birthday on the eve of my 21st.
December 12, 2005 - My grandpa passed away. The first death I've been old enough to actually comprehend the situation.
December 31, 2005 - My
fifth Social Code concert since July. After the show I was hanging out with the band where they told me that they played my favourite song for me. I know they probably would've played it even if I wasn't there, but it was nice that they acknowledged that.
