The percentage of people who smoke in Italy is pretty huge, but they actually passed a law last January that bans smoking in public places. So no smoking in restaurants, bars, on school property etc.. WOW, is it nice not to come home stinking. Then again, I moved to Austria and there it's even worse than it used to be here.. so I'm not really benefiting.

HOWEVER, I think you should still be allowed to smoke in bars and cafés because as much as I think it's a stupid habit, people just enjoy a cigarette with their beer and coffee. And as long as there is a non-smoking area as well, I also don't have a problem with it.

Very ironic - the guy who passed the law is a chain smoker and the only "public" place you can still smoke in is the parliament. *smacks head*
