Do you have children? Yes or No

Which one of the following describes you?

Smoker, non-smoker or ex-smoker

For the following statements please state whether you strongly agree, agree, uncertain, disagree or strongly disagree.

Smoking is allowed in places serving food. ›› strongly disagree ›› as far as my reasoning goes, my answer should speak for itself

Smoking is allowed in places serving food but only in designated areas. ›› agree ›› these areas should be "quarantined", as in compartments seperated by means of glass, wall, and door. Proper ventilation must be installed inside the smoking areas at all times. Non-smoking area must be completely smoke free at all times.

Smoking is allowed in pubs, bars and nightclubs that do NOT serve food. ›› agree ›› it is my belief that the majority of people visiting these places do smoke. Most people who smoke also drink beer and/or other alcoholic beverages, which they can obtain in these places. I believe it would be fair to them to allow them to smoke here. I personally however will not choose, nor be able for that matter, to enter these establishments. Reasons concern health obviously, and my continuous craving for fresh air.

Smoking is allowed in places where children are present. ›› strongly disagree ›› Personal matter. At 3 years old I was this close to losing my life because of smoke (among others). I do not wish that experience upon any other child.

A smoking ban in public places will effect business. ›› agreed ›› the only reason smoking still exists is because of business. Business will be affected, yes. By how much one can't say. Too many factors to take into consideration. People might smarten up and quit altogether. Others will spend less time in public places and more time at home. Either way, I am certain business will go down. However, in the proverbial battle Business vs Health, Health wins. Always. Business taking the fall in this matter will be a small price to pay in my opinion. It would be a different case should smoking only affect those doing it. But alas, it does not.

Smoking is a freedom of choice. ›› agree ›› to each their own. As long as each is well educated on the subject before they begin practicing it. Passive smoking however, is not a freedom of choice. In a case where I am forced to inhale the smoke of another due to whatever reason, I will be pissed.
