Two trees 50 feet apart have a rope inbetween them. Two flagpoles must be placed 20 feet from the rope and equidistant from the trees. Draw the two places where the flagpoles could be place.
Ok so the flagpoles have to be 20ft from the rope. But before you can do that, you need to find out the point on the rope from where you can measure the 20ft. This is where the trees come in. THe point has to be equidistant from the trees. Which means that the point on the rope has to be exactly in the middle. This is 25ft. From the point in the middle, you draw a 20ft line up and a 20ft line down. At the end of the line on each side, is where the flagpoles should be placed. I guess the picture makes you understand more
