Exactly.

This proves that Sheehan is angry at the military for "taking" her son even though he voluntarily enlisted (and reenlisted before his death). No sane person could mistake the policing in New Orleans for the war theater in Iraq. Shoot, I would have liked the National Guard to occupy my neighborhood after the hurricane.

I dealt with the National Guard at the FEMA distribution point and they were the nicest people even after standing in the 90+ heat all day. The fact that some of them had M-16s strapped to their backs didn't bother me because I knew that they were needed to keep order. Never once did it intimidate or frighten me.

Then Sheehan goes on to whinge that CNN, et. al. aren't covering her in the peace march:

Quote:
i am watching cnn and it is 100 percent rita...even though it is a little wind and a little rain...it is bad, but there are other things going on in this country today...and in the world!!!!

After people eviscerate her (and rightly so), she apologizes albeit rather insincerely.

Now about Hurricane Rita: I woke up on Saturday morning filled with excitement. I knew that the rally and march were going to be amazing events and I was thrilled to be a part of them. I switched on the TV and turned on CNN and for 2 hours, I watched one of their reporters in front of the same downed tree and it wasn't even raining. I knew that there was a hurricane and it was damaging. At the point of the news cycle though, I thought CNN could be covering other news.
In other words, they weren't covering Cindy Sheehan so Cindy Sheehan got upset and threw a tantrum.

However, CNN and other mainstream news outlets ALWAYS report other news besides the illegal occupation of Iraq.
That's just absolutely false. Yes when a hurricane hits it likely won't be on the front page for a day, but there is always at least one report on the day's events in Iraq. The only time I didn't hear a report on Iraq was the two weeks after the hurricane hit and I had one local channel.

Saturday was the most important event in peace history in decades.

No it wasn't. Saturday's march was just another seemingly tri-annual event. Marches with people that don't readily protest make news. For example, the Million Man March and the Promise Keepers March. An anti-war march largely made up of college kids is not news.

Plus hurricanes are a ratings boon to networks and ratings make the networks money. It isn't then hard to figure out why an anti-war march of the usual suspects will take a backseat. The march did however make it on CNN later that day.
