Cindy Sheehan is using her son's death to attention whore around the nation.
First of all, she already met with Bush once after her son died. Ms. Sheehan said that she decided against any anti-war talk at that particular meeting. So she had her chance fair and square.
Quote:
The 10 minutes of face time with the president could have given the family a chance to vent their frustrations or ask Bush some of the difficult questions they have been asking themselves, such as whether Casey's sacrifice would make the world a safer place.
But in the end, the family decided against such talk, deferring to how they believed Casey would have wanted them to act. In addition, Pat noted that Bush wasn't stumping for votes or trying to gain a political edge for the upcoming election.

And seriously why would Bush want to meet with her now?! Sheehan rides in on an
"Impeachment Tour" bus and will basically throw barbs at him rather than engage in any meaningful dialogue. It's not like Bush will go "Oh Ms. Sheehan, you've made me see the light. Troops out of Iraq tomorrow!"
Furthermore if Bush allows a meeting to take place, then it will set the precedent that if you scream loud enough then you can strongarm a meeting with the President. That will assuredly incite violence down the line.
However, Bush did send his National Security Advisor to
meet with her.
Secondly, Cindy Sheehan even says that she would feel the same way if her son were killed in
Afghanistan. So it's not about the Iraq war at all ,but just another anti-Bush protest. At least have the honesty to admit it is an anti-Bush protest rather than try to emotionally manipulate people into thinking it is for some higher cause.
Her son joined the military voluntarily and knew the risks in doing so. Bush didn't force him to sign the enlistment papers and certainly didn't kill him. I think that Cindy Sheehan is looking for someone to blame for her son's death and Bush is an easy target. However, remember that Bush didn't start the Iraq war on his own. I wonder how many people at this protest are Kerry voters.
Finally come September, if not sooner, this story will become irrelevant. The more Sheehan speaks, the more she marginalizes herself. Sheehan made some remarks about
Palestine this week that got her an endorsement from
David Duke . That along with the fact that Sheehan announced she wasn't paying
income taxes for 2004 because of her son's death, i'd say her clock reads 14:00 right now.
Whinging in a ditch isn't going to accomplish anything; Democrats would be more effective in offering reasonable solutions to ending the U.S. presence in Iraq. Certainly being the "anti-Bush" is not an winning strategy.
