I somewhat agree with what you're saying here, Mandy. However...even if someone doesn't want to be looked at as a role model (celeb or average joe), chances are SOMEONE will look up to them in some way. That comes with a position of power. Everyone fucks up no matter what according to someone else. What I may see as a teacher making a mistake, someone else won't. What I see as a parent being irresponsible or "wrong", someone else won't. It's just all in how you look at it. And if you're going to look up to someone, you have to be able to distinguish between what really matters and what doesn't. Okay, so Nick Carter getting arrested for drunk driving isn't too good for him, no matter if he was a celeb or not. However, that doesn't make me admire him any less; I think he's hella talented and the fact that he's screwed up in life a few times doesn't change that for me.
