People are going into this movie having already seen Signs and Sixth Sense. So they're already expecting a big twist and right from the opening credits are searching for clues in the movie and trying to put them together right away.
What I think would be a good solution, is that M.Night Shyamalan needs to start doing his movies under different secret aliases, to prevent people from expecting these twists. That way, they don't search for the clues, and watch the movie for what it is. Otherwise, his movies are going to be slipping down the drain and through the cracks with each one. |
Exactly! I started out watching the movie looking for clues and hidden things and then I realized that I was missing all of what was going on so I stopped. Watching for clues is something for the third or fourth viewing I think, NOT the first!

It's a psychological thriller, IMO. There were some parts that made you jump, but I think more than anything it just messed with your head.
