Spanish players at the Indian Wells Masters Series tennis tournament are wearing black ribbons in memory of those killed and wounded in bombings in that country that left some 200 dead.
The attacks shocked and saddened the Spanish players, who rushed to contact family members back home.
"Thank God everybody is OK, I've got a lot of friends there," said former Wimbledon champion Conchita Martinez, who learned of the bombings on the Internet.
A series of terror attacks on commuter passenger trains killed about 200 people and injured more than 1,400 on Thursday.
"It's the worst thing you can do in the world," said Madrid native Feliciano Lopez. "We can live in peace, but they don't want to. Everybody is going to be nervous now." |
