Fourth Round, 1st Leg Results
Auxerre 1-1 PSV Eindhoven
Benfica 0-0 Inter Milan
Bordeaux 3-1 Club Brugge
Genclerbirligi 1-0 Valencia
Villarreal 2-0 Roma

Not great results for either Valencia or Roma. I haven't seen any match highlights from either games or read any reports, but I would have expected both teams to have done better. PSV look in good shape with the away goal and I'd fancy Milan to go through if they have a good defensive display at home. Brugge look like they've got a tougher challenge. Good luck to them.

Celtic 1-0 Barcelona
I didn't get the chance to see this match! Apparently 'certain' programs aren't available on digital packages .. and I was out anyway, so would have missed 80 minutes of the game regardless. Great result for Celtic. The sending's off didn't look too pretty at half-time and the second one from Barcelona could have really opened up the match, I'm a little surprised that there weren't more goals. If Celtic can get the away goal in Spain I think they've got an excellent chance of going through.

Liverpool 1-1 Marseille
An average performance from Liverpool (as usual). Both goals were scored in the second-half, the first coming from Baros, the equaliser from Drogba. Liverpool showed some real urgency in the last few minutes and had one excellent chance to take a lead into the return leg, but Barthez made a good save from the shot. Liverpool needed to show more of that urgency earlier in the game. I don't think they'll survive the second-leg.

Newcastle United 4-1 Real Mallorca
My initial responce to this scoreline was one of surprise, especially after the way Newcastle performed recently against Valerenga .. and after Emma's comment that they should be 2 or 3 down. Three goals in seven minutes to give them a 3-1 lead .. what happened? did Mallorca crumble, or did Newcastle simply turn the heat up and have a magic 10 minutes. The fourth was the icing on the cake and surely now they will have the confidence to go through.
